Q10) Explain Probability
mass function ?
A10) If a stochastic variable can take I different values, x(i)={
1,2,3...............i) and the probability of the value x(i) being taken
is p(x(i)), the set of nos p(x(i)) is said to be a probabilty mass
function.
The Probability mass function may be a known set of nos. Eg with a die,
the probability of each of the six faces is 1/6.
Q11) Compare Simulation & analytical Methods ?
A11) Compared with analytical solution of problems the main drawback of
simulation is apparent. It gives specific solutions rather those general
solutions. In the study of automobile wheel motion, eg, an analytical
solution gives all the conditions that can cause oscillation. To try to
find all such conditions requires that the simulation be repeated under
many different conditions. The mathematical solution being sought is
some maximizing conditions.

Q12) What Does GPSS stands
for?
A12) GPSS stand for General Purpose Simulation System Language. It is
Developed by IBM corporation. The system to be simulated in GPSS is
described as a block diagram in which the block diagram in which the
block diagram in which the block represent the activities & lines
joining the blocks indicate the sequence in Which the activities can be
executed.
Q13) What is Discrete event simulation?
A12) A no used to represent some aspect of the system state is called a
state descriptor. We define a discrete event as a set of circumstances,
that causes an instantaneous change in one or more system state
descriptors. In addition , it is possible that two different events
occur simultaneously, or are modeled as being simultaneous, so that not
all changes of state descriptors occurring simultaneously necessarily
belong to a single event.
Q14) What are block types available in GPSS ?
A14) Various types of Block types are:
1) Advance 2) Link 3) Seize 4) Assign 5) Logic 6) Tabulate 7) Depart 8)
Mark 9) Terminate 10) Enter 11) Priority 12) Test |

Q15) What are Action Times?
A15) Clock time is represented by an integral no, with the interval of
real time corresponding to a unit of time chosen by the program user.
The Unit of time is not specifically stated but is implied by giving all
times in terms of the same unit. One block type called ADVANCE is
concerned with representing the expenditure of time. The program
computes an interval of time called an action time for each transaction
as it enters an advance block, & the transaction remains at the block
for this interval of simulated time before attempting to proceed.
Q16) Define Facilities & Storage?
A16) A facility is defined as an entity that can be engaged by a single
transaction at a time. A storage is defined as an entity that can be
occupied by many transactions at a time, up to some predetermined limit.
Both Facilities & storage can be made unavailable, as would occur if the
equipment they represent breaks down,& can be made available again, as
occurs when a repair has been made.
Q17) Name various fields in which simulation
system is a great aid?
A17) 1) Training of Pilots 2) Telephone Systems 3) Inventory Systems 4)
Electronic circuits
