Question 11 : What is a network ? Why is it needed?
Answer: A network is an interconnected collection of autonomous
computers that can share and exchange information. |
|
|
|
Major reasons that emphasize on the need of network
are: -
i Resource Sharing : Through a network, data, software, and hardware
resources can be shared irrespectively of the physical location of the
resources and the user.
ii Reliability : A file can have its two or more copies on each and
every computer of the network, so if one of them is unavailable the
other ones can be used. That makes the network more reliable.
iii Reduce Cost : Since recourses can be shared automatically the cost
reduces.
iv Fast Communication : With network it is possible to exchange
information at very fast speed.
Question12 : What is a server and what are its
roles?
Answer: A computer that facilitates the sharing of data, software, and
hardware recourses on a network is a Server.
There are two kinds of servers :
i Non-Dedicated Server : It is a workstation on the small network that
can double up as a server.
ii Dedicated Server : On bigger networks a computer is reserved fro the
cause o serving which is called a Dedicated Server.
Question13 : Compare the two access method mostly
used in most of the network ?
